I am using this lens too. It is not bad at all given its price Here are couple of photos taken with EOS10D and this lens.

Another one for the carnival, taken with tamron 19-35 (Same as the Toknia), fuji 400 film.

我有这头和EF28-135

去了一次九寨沟，感觉在顺光的时候色彩还原和分辨率都和28-135差不多，但是没有仔细比较过（因为没有好的loupe），但是逆光时玄光严重！

我的图文辑里还有几张是用这头拍的

不过我的扫描不太好
原片看起来就好得多得了

能不能谈谈TOKINA AF235（此物XI老好象有）和AF193？

我借到一枝头，试拍表明，该头的成像不错就是在逆光时眩光明显。但是对这只1。5k的头还有什么更高的要求呢，毕竟佳能的20-35的二手价都要2600还要买个hood。我准备在1。4kshi出手。谁叫我太穷呢！

图丽20-35/3.5-4.5和19-35/3.5-4.5这两支镜头，我对比测试过。光学质量在高倍放大后很难区别，前者的金属成分多些，后者的塑料成分多些。
佳能这支镜头的优势是USM马达。
我个人推荐图丽，性能价格比高。

也可以考虑威达的19-35mm嘛，PHOTO_NET上有一个用这个头的人，评价不错，这是他转引的杂志对威达这个头和图丽、佳能20-35MM的对比。结论是虽然放大后解像力不如另两个头，但变形控制非常好，而且价格便宜，手动头在阿钟那里才1100元左右，应该比较超值。
买了后记得写个报告上来，呵呵……

If we were discussing people and you said "He's a Vivitar - must be a cheap consumer type person," you'd rightfully be criticized for ethnic discrimination. A person should be judged on his own merits. Should a lens be judged on its own merits, or not even be considered because of its brand? Is it impossible for a Cosina made Vivitar Series 1/Phoenix lens to be good (knowing that Cosina makes lenses for camera brands also)?

I checked the Pop Photo test reports (& cross checked with a 20-35 test comparison in Practical Photography). Here's the results.

DISTORTION: (19 or 20 - 28 - 35 mm.)

Canon: 0.4% 1.2% 2.8%

Tokina: >3.0% "normal" "normal"

Vivitar: 1.1% 1.5% 0.7%

(May '92 Pop Photo has Tokina numbers - I just have the condensed compilation.)

My personal threshold for acceptable distortion is about 1.5%. 3% looks horrible in ANY size print with lines in it, even a 4x6.

LIGHT FALLOFF

Canon: vignetted slightly at max. aperture, gone by f/8

Tokina: @20 considerable max. aperture light falloff, gone by f/8

@28 considerable max. aperture light falloff, gone by f/11

@35 gone by f/11

Vivitar: gone by f/8 at all focal lengths

SQF SUMMARY (GREAT=A,A+; GOOD=B,B+; FAIR=C,C+)

Canon:

8x10 GREAT

11x14 GOOD wide open (GREAT @ 19mm), GREAT by 5.6

16x20 GOOD wide open (OK @ 35mm), GOOD at 5.6 (GREAT @ 19mm),

GOOD at 8 & 11

Tokina:

8x10 GREAT

11x14 GREAT

16x20 GOOD wide open, GREAT by 5.6 (8 @ 35mm)

Vivitar:

8x10 GREAT

11x14 GOOD wide open, GREAT by 5.6

16x20 FAIR wide open, GOOD by 5.6, GREAT by 8 (11 @ 35m)

So, how about the Canon? 2.8% distortion at 35mm. At 28 & 35mm, you never get a "great" 16x20. I don't think so.

Should you buy the Tokina for its sharp, contrasty 16x20's wide open, but considerable distortion at the wide end and considerable light fall off, both of which can be seen in 4x6? Not me.

No distortion problems with the Vivitar. Wide open - great 8x10's. Stopped down 1 stop - great 11x14's. Stopped down 2 stops - great 16x20's. At least it WILL give me a great 16x20. Sounded like the best compromise to me. And it's the cheapest! $170 vs. $280 (Tokina) or $410 (Canon).

So I got it. Have had it for 2 years. I haven't thrown it at brick walls to see if it would survive, but it seems sturdy enough and has survived international travel without a scratch. (I'm still stuck in the manual focus era, so I can't comment on the autofocus version.) Like I said before, my Photosmart scans support the SQF claims of Pop Photo. At 40% the price of the Canon, it's hard to see how you could go wrong.

Other than brand bashing, can someone tell me where I missed the boat?
