(Here I would like to thank all the Atlanta xitek.forum members, especially Canon-A1. Without your help, I couldn’t have made it.)

I went down to Atlanta to attend a conference for four days. But I almost spend all my time wandering around the city, the “gone with the wind” city. I can never describe how much I love “gone with the wind”, the novel. Whenever I read it, it took days for me to recover from daydreaming. I always feel horribly sad when I was back from that wonderful journey to the reality. It is just so “breathe taking”. Peach Tree Street, Five Points, Tara, all these places entered my dreams. For years I have been longing for visiting it. And then I was there.

Atlanta is the largest city in the south east. A unique culture is associated with its unusual racial composition. Hopefully here I can briefly show you this modern city, where tradition is still in people’s heart.

So let’s start my trip with Ms. Mitchell house. The history is always where the value is laid out.

All the pictures are scaned by Minolta Dimage Dual III by Vuescan

A little store of lots of fun things; mostly perfumes, then some arts. Very nice place. The owner, I guess, of the store is beautiful young black girl, very shy. I didn’t manage to make her agree to show her face in my picture.

The underground is a public space. Lots of people go there to speak out and discuss some topic they care about. And there, it was obvious that the blacks were working hard to build a better world.

Atlanta replaced Milledgeville as the state capital in 1868. The yellow colored dome on top of the state capital(as Victoon's photos shows) is made of real gold , which is from the northern Georgia mountains!
